I came across the wonderful (and slightly spooky) work of Mike Doyle, who makes fantastic Lego sculptures of abandoned houses. The level of detail is incredible (he only uses Lego bricks, no other materials) and one house alone uses nearly 130,000 pieces and took 600 hours to complete. It really reminded me of the 100 Abandoned Houses in Detroit project by Kevin Bauman which highlights just a relative few of the 12,000 beautiful, historic houses in Detroit that have been left to rack and ruin. There are strong attempts at regeneration but the odds seem stacked against them. Very sad indeed…
